Meat Tomorrow

Affordable and sustainable meat cultivation

Active Next round Seed Denmark Foodtech

Meat alternatives have mostly been considered the solution to our heavy meat consumption, but the team behind Meat Tomorrow have come up with a scalable and affordable meat cultivation technology that could be part of the solution.

Cultivated meat is made from stem cells. They are grown in a controlled environment, and when they are ready, you “tell them” to become muscle cells. The muscle cells can later be harvested and then combined with fat cells to create the cultivated minced meat.

The numbers are not final, but Meat Tomorrow’s indications show a 52% reduction in CO2 emissions and 72% reduction in land area usage.

Our investment thesis

Since 2020, various companies have attempted to make cultivated meat a reality. And though the technology works, the price limits the adoption of this much more environmentally friendly production method – with prices being 2 to 10 times higher than for your normal meat.

The team is world class in its field and have found a way to do it affordable. Being the first scientists to use embryonic stem cells is no small feat and the gains of using this technology could be a game changer and become the standard in cultivated meat going forward.
