Active Next round Seed Denmark AIHealthtechMederiAI is developing an AI-powered software solution that assists gastroenterologists in analysing capsule endoscopy videos faster, more accurately, and at a significantly lower cost. Capsule endoscopy is a non-invasive procedure in which a patient swallows a small capsule equipped with a camera that records hours of footage of the gastrointestinal tract. However, currently reviewing this footage typically takes around two hours per case, is prone to human error, and leads to critical conditions being missed in up to 25% of cases. MederiAI’s solution helps doctors detect life-threatening conditions in under 10 minutes, dramatically reducing diagnostic time and increasing accuracy — ultimately saving lives and improving patient care.

Adrian has a PhD in Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Control Theory from DTU. Before founding MederiAI, he has worked with AI and machine learning on senior level at Huawei and VEO.

Manuel has a Masters degree in Innovative Communication Technology and Entrepreneurship from Aalborg University. MederiAI is his second founded startup, and he has previously worked as CTO in several companies.

Our investment thesis
A substantial change in how endoscopic examinations are done is happening these years with a move from traditional live endoscopic examinations to endoscopic capsules. This has several benefits but also provides a burden of substantial raw video footage (3 hours per patient) that must be examined by a doctor. This is costly, time consuming and even error prone, which makes it an ideal target for automation and application of software to identify areas of interest for the doctor to explore cutting down the examination time from hours to 10-15 minutes.
