In a global effort, The Solar Impulse Foundation is selecting 1000 efficient solutions that protect the environment. Solutions that founder Bertrand Piccard will be presenting to high-level decision-makers at COP24 in December. Accelerace has joined in the effort to bridge the gap between ecology and economy.
If a silver, light-weight plane with a wingspan to make even the largest albatross jealous comes to your mind when you hear the name Bertrand Piccard you are not all wrong. In 2015, Bertrand Piccard and co-pilot Andre Borschberg flew around the world in their specially built solar plane forever changing what was thought possible.
Following the success of the 40.000-mile flight without the use of a single drop of fuel, Bertrand Piccard and his company The Solar Impulse Foundation are now calling the world to embrace clean technologies and efficient solutions because they are much more than ecological – they are logical.
The #1000Solutions challenge
The World Alliance for Efficient Solutions, an initiative created by the Solar Impulse Foundation, is now looking for innovators with efficient solutions to protect the environment in a profitable way. Once submitted, the solutions will be assessed by independent experts on their technological feasibility, socio-environmental benefits, and profitability.
If they meet these criteria, they will be awarded the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label and included in the 1000 solutions portfolio. Bertrand Piccard will present this catalog at the COP24 in Poland in December before setting off on a third round the world tour to raise their profile among decision-makers, media and investors in order to fast-track their implementation.
Accelerace has collaborated with The World Alliance for Efficient Solutions to bridge the gap between ecology and economy hopefully exposing and presenting the best Nordic cleantech startups to the world.
”We are huge fans of Bertrand Piccard. His round-the-world trip in the revolutionary solar airplane really puts the way in which we use and produce energy in perspective. We are proud of collaborating with the Solar Impulse Foundation and see great possibilities for our talented cleantech companies to be exposed to international companies like Nestlé, Enige, BNP Paribas, and Air Liquide. All companies interested in building a green future,” says Jes Nordentoft, Business Accelerator and Project Manager at Accelerace.
